My question is specifically about part 2, haven't gotten to the other parts yet.
When you say "Each section below must be implemented in FUNCTIONS!!!"
Do you mean that we should be writing our own functions? Or are we allowed to use the functions that were introduced to us today in class?

You certainly can use any of the php built-in functions including the ones we reviewed in class. However, each section of the homework should be a function too - even if the only thing that happens is the calling of a built-in function. So, for example: the first section of part2 is to search for any occurrence of INFSCI and change it to Information Science.
function lookforINFSCI()
{ code to be executed 99% chance that in here you will use things like strlen etc and echo statements.
} //end of function
In main you will call lookforINFSCI and other functions to perform the work for each section of the homework

Thanks! only reason I ask is cause I'm used to Dr. Flynn wanting us to write our own functions rather than use premade functions.
